A Luxury Hotel in York With Real Character

With a strong emphasis on period elegance and comfort, Marmadukes luxury hotel in York city centre stands out a mile from other more humdrum modern hotels. Built as a typical gentleman’s residence in 1881, the two generous red brick Victorian town houses still maintain many of their original features.

Today, the buildings have been designed to provide 19 distinctive and stylish bedrooms, each with their own unique character, plus a new luxury Loft Suite. Marmadukes staff will provide you with everything you need to ensure that you feel relaxed and at home during your stay with us.

In addition to our 20 rather special rooms, we offer our guests wonderful dining facilities in our very own AA Rosette awarded Victorian Chop House, Monty’s Grill, and the chance to sip from an extensive range of wines and champagnes in our stylish bar.

With its authentic Victorian structure and elegant interior design, Marmadukes sets itself apart from other purpose-built hotels, and this is one of the factors which makes staying with us in York city centre so special.

Please don’t come and stay with us if you want a huge, grand marble reception and room sizes measured out in the finest detail by a chain Hotel’s architect, because you won’t get it. As we say, Marmadukes Hotel in York is a ‘Fine Small Hotel’. We’re not the biggest in York and we do things our own way. We think the place is a gem and we hope you’ll agree.
